YOU ASK - WE ANSWER

What is CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence-based talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression but can also be useful for various other psychological and physical health problems.

How does CBT work?

CBT is based on the concept that our thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical sensations are all interlinked and that negative thoughts can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming issues in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller pieces.
Unlike some other types of therapy, CBT deals with the here and now and the current issues you are facing. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.

How long does each therapy session take?

Sessions last 50 minutes for both in person and online appointments. We offer a free 10 minute online or phone consultation prior to you beginning Therapy with us to make sure it's the right fit for us both. As CBT is a collaborative therapy being able to build a positive therapeutic relationship from the beginning and throughout is paramount to the success of treatment.
